Comparison of Injury Rate by the Gender of the Supervisor using Regression
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to analyze whether or not there is a difference in the mean injury rate by the gender of the supervisor. Different academic works have addressed the topic of sex differences in work related injuries (Kelsh & Salh, 1995), even though the topic of difference in injury rate in a work related setting, by the gender of the supervisor is a commonly addressed topic.
For the context of this analysis, the dependent variable (DV) is injury rate, which is measured at the ratio level, and the independent variable is gender, which is measured at the nominal level. Since the dependent variable is measured at the ratio level and the independent variable is a categorical variable, measured at the nominal level, a regression analysis can be used to assess whether or not gender have a significant effect on injury rate.
