Question: Must use SPSS. Researchers at the Veterans Studies center in New Haven, Connecticut, wondered whether there was any difference in the rate of later heart attacks among heart patients based on whether they received bypass surgery or were treated medically with drug therapy. A total of 803 patients were recruited, all of whom suffered from stable angina. One group of patients had bypass surgery, and the other group was treated with drugs. All the patients were then monitored and the number who had subsequent heart attacks was tallied. The results were as follows:
HEART ATTACK NO HEART ATTACK
SURGERY 141 202
DRUG THERAPY 171 343
Test the hypothesis that there is a difference in the number of later heart attacks based on the mode of therapy.
