Question: Several student volunteers were deprived of sleep for varying periods, and their performance on a pursuit rotor task was measured. The object of the pursuit motor task is to keep a stylus in contact with a spot on a rotating turntable. It is primarily a measure of hand-eye coordination and should be sensitive to the effects of sleep deprivation. The length of the deprivation and the amount of time during a one-minute test each student could keep the stylus in contact with the target are shown here. Determine whether lack of sleep affected performance on the task. People scoring 0 often fell asleep at the start of the session. Use the LSD test to make all pairwise comparisons if your F ratio is significant.
