Question: We know that the presence of others often interferes with an individual’s complex problem solving. Two digit multiplication problems with answers are presented to participants on a computer screen. Their task is to respond "correct" or "incorrect" as quickly as possible. Response latencies (time taken to respond) are recorded by the computer. Participants perform the task alone (1 person group), in the presence of another person (2 person group), or in the presence of 3 other people (4 person group). In the 4 person group, a computer failure led to the loss of one participant’s data. Perform an overall test of significance. If the test is significant, do all pairwise comparisons.
