Project

The data provided in the SPSS file were collected from a study examining the acute physiological responses to a psychological stress test. All subjects completed the stress under two conditions:

after ingestion of the neuroactive drug Compound X (Exp) and

after ingestion of a placebo (PLA).

Blood was collected before the stress test (Pre), at the midpoint of the stress test (Mid), immediately post the stress test (IP), and +5 (t5), +15 (t15) and +30 (t30) min post the stress test. Identical stress tests were used in both conditions. Blood was analyzed for 3 proprietary neuropeptides (labeled T, I, and C) at each time point.

Statistically analyze the data using SPSS (provide a copy of your SPSS output) and interpret/report the statistical findings including significance and effect sizes.

As part of the latter, you should

  1. prepare the "statistical analysis portion" of a "methods" section
  2. make graphs of the data and prepare a "results" section and
  3. prepare a short discussion of what you found using the statistical analysis and what it means.

This is expected to be a 3-4 page plus graphs and SPSS output write-up.

In addition, please answer the following question:

  1. In order to be able to draw any conclusion from the experiment above what experimental conditions, study organization, or similar must have been employed in the study?
