Applied Probability
SPSS Project
This project involves the application of the SPSS skills covered in the class assignments. You will be provided a dataset to manipulate and generate specific statistical products. These products will be incorporated into a single Word document, with a one-page description of what the data is displaying and any interpretations you may have.
Instructions
- Select one of the Excel datasets on violent crime in Florida and upload it into SPSS for processing. Clean the dataset by moving the variable titles out of the rows and into the category descriptions. Recode the numeric variables as numeric and scale, and remove the FLORIDA case from the dataset.
- Filter the dataset by population greater than 200,000 and generate a descriptive statistics table displaying Aggravated Assault and Total Violent Crimes for this subset.
- Reset the data and filter by population less than 50,000 and generate a descriptive statistics table displaying Aggravated Assault and Total Violent Crimes for this subset.
- Reset the data and select the six most populous counties. Prepare stacked graphs displaying all crime statistics by county. Make any edits or modifications to the display you desire.
- Reset the data and select the six least populous counties. Prepare stacked graphs displaying all crime statistics by county. Make any edits or modifications to the display you desire.
- Import all tables and graphs (two of each) into Word. Be sure they are appropriately titled.
- Prepare a one-page written description of what the data outputs are displaying with any personal observations or thoughts.
