Question: Chief George Whatacop is really, really irate. His officers have been complaining that along West Main Street, just south of downtown Prescott, the average person is speeding at 4.25 miles over the posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour. Well, to stay that George is miffed is an understatement. He firmly believes that “Those darn teenagers are to blame for all that speeding, and that they are in fact going 6.5 miles per hour over the speed limit.” He also believes that “older” drivers, those over 70, many of which are his friends, are in fact driving under the speed limit; he guesses by 2.5 miles per hour. First write two sets of null and research hypotheses for this study then figure out the probability of either of these being correct. Oh, don’t forget to show your work and answer the question, what percent of speeders are going too fast or too slow? And, is Chief Whatacop correct or not?
