Question: Robert Pencil Warren is at it again, this time he created “Bob’s Scale of Job Prestige” for jobs in Prescott County. He asked almost 1,000 working people in the County to complete his scale about the prestige of their jobs. He guessed that white workers would hold jobs with “more prestige” than minority workers. He found that in a sample of 810 white workers that the mean on his scale was 44.63 with a standard deviation of 13.63; and for a sample of 114 minority workers he found a mean of 39.80 with a standard deviation of 11.45. At the .05 level of significance write out the null and research hypotheses and figure out if Bob’s guess is correct or not.
