Question: (40%) A social psychologist is studying jury decision making. In particular, he is interested in determining if age of the defendant and the severity of the charge influence the length of time the jury takes to decide on a verdict. The Age factor has three levels: 20-, 40-, and 60-years old The Charge factor has two levels: lesser and greater. The psychologist randomly assigns 10 volunteers to each of the 6 treatments, and each juror views a videotape of a trial. The trials differ only in the Age of the defendant and the Charge stated at the beginning. After viewing the tape, each volunteer is asked to render a verdict. The time (in hours) the “jurors” take to return the verdict is recorded. A summary of the results is given below:
a. Analyze and interpret the results (use \(\alpha \) = .05)
b. Explain why you chose the test that you did.
c. Is there a reasonable alternative to the test you used?
