Question: The effect of alcohol abuse on concentration and coordination was studied by comparing the time (in seconds) taken to complete a task involving hand/eye coordination. Twelve patients undergoing treatment for alcohol abuse and 12 non-abusers were enrolled in this study. To control for any influence of gender and age, the 24 subjects were blocked into three categories by age and gender. Use a two-way ANOVA test to do your analysis. We will assume this data set has equality of variance.

i) What are the assumptions needed to conduct a two-way ANOVA?

ii) Test the data set for normality using the appropriate hypotheses to answer the research question. Use the 10% level of significance for testing.

iii) Using a two-way ANOVA, determine if gender and abuse have an influence on hand/eye coordination times. Use the 10% level of significance for testing.

(For question 2 ii and iii use the 10% level of significance for testing. OR 0.10 We are just looking for a influence but have not hypothesized that eg. men who are abusers will have longer hand/eye coordination times compared to women; and etc. These hypotheses are directional.)
