[See Steps] TASK 3: Normality and other aspects of data screening and transformation [total word limit = 1200 words] James has conducted some data screening
Question: TASK 3: Normality and other aspects of data screening and transformation [total word limit = 1200 words]
- James has conducted some data screening tests on the ‘Emotion Management’ variable to explore normality and outliers, and the results are shown in Appendix 1. Based on the SPSS output in Appendix 1, produce a statistical report of the results. All parts of the output must be individually commented on (note that in the ‘descriptives’ box you need only report and interpret the figures for skewness and kurtosis). Any statistics should be reported to either 2 or 3 decimal places (the key is to be consistent), while using clear and concise sentences and paragraphs to demonstrate your understanding of the results. Use the workshop handout to help you with this question. For the plots, you must first evidence your understanding of what the purpose of that particular plot is in general, as well as what it would look like if normally distributed; you should then interpret the result (i.e., pattern/shape) shown. [700 words].
- Summarise the results from question 1. (tip make sure you highlight any consistencies or apparent contradictions in the tests and plots, if there are any) [150 words]
- Based on the Results from Question 1, explain to James whether he has found evidence of a univariate or multivariate outlier and clarify the difference between them. [50 words].
- If James runs the exact same tests (as shown in Appendix I) on the Stress variable, is his data screening complete? Justify your answer. [150 words]
- If James decided to examine the relationship between Emotion Management and Stress separately for males and females, what implication does this have for data screening? [50 words]
- James has used a "reflect and square root" transformation to normalise the emotion management variable. What effect could this have on the emotion management variable? [100 words]
