Does the information given in the table match up with this assumption?
Test this by picking two of the 6 ranges given in the table and figuring out what percentage of students would score in each range if the scores were distributed normally. Are the percentages about the same as those in the table? If your results are ambiguous, you may have to make a judgment call—but please be sure to support your answer.
HINT: Convert the raw scores on either end of each range you choose to z -scores and use the standard normal distribution table. Drawing pictures will help too! If you need more guidance, please ask me.
