Question: Another way to see if the scores are normally distributed is to look at percentiles. If a student scores in the n th percentile on a test, they have scored better than n % of the other students that took the test. We have the following data:

 Pick two of the rows in this table—do they correspond with a normal distribution with a mean of 515 and standard deviation 114?

For each one, you can either:

1. figure out what the 75 ^th (or 50 ^th or 25 ^th ) percentile should be in the normal distribution, and compare it to the score given in the table; or
2. figure out what percentile 590 (or 510 or 430) should be, and compare it to the percentile given in the table.
