Question: [10 points] It is generally believed that Japanese passenger vehicles, on average, get better mileage that US passenger vehicles. However, it is not clear if variability in gas mileage is different for the two types of vehicles. A sample of 78 US vehicles yielded a sample mean and a sample standard deviation of 16.03MPG and 4.82 MPG, respectively. The corresponding numbers for a sample of 70 Japanese vehicles was 29.91MPG and 6.20MPG. Using the appropriate hypotheses test, determine if the variability in gas mileage differs between the two types of vehicles. Use a significance level of 5%.
