Question: Chemitech, Inc. has developed a new filtration system for municipal water supplies. The industrial engineering group has been given the responsibility of determining the best assembly method for the new filtration system. After considering a variety of possible approaches, the group has narrowed the alternatives to three: method A, method B, and method C. A sample of 15 workers are selected and randomly assigned to the three treatments. The following table shows the number of units produced by 15 workers.

Observation A B C
1 58 58 48
2 64 69 57
3 55 71 59
4 66 64 47
5 67 68 49
  1. Enter the above data in Excel and use the formula "=average()" and "=var()" to get the sample mean and variance for each method, the overall mean, and the overall variance.
  2. Use the printout from part a to calculate the SST, SSG, and SSW. Show your work.
  3. Use the results from part b to construct the ANOVA table.
  4. Use Excel to get the ANOVA table. e. Using a 5% level of significance, test for any significant difference in the means for the three assembly methods.
