Final Project - Quantitative Analysis

The purpose of this project is to practice the whole research process from data collection to analysis using statistical methods. The main focus of this project is to choose and use a proper quantitative method to analyze a research topic. The following steps are a main process in order to complete this project.

  1. Choose your research topic - This topic should be one that is relative to any urban planning fields. It is important to clearly define and describe your topic.
  2. Collect data - Most of statistical analysis requires random sample selection. However, let's not worry about random selection for this project. You can download data from the Internet or any other sources.
  3. Choose a quantitative method that fits with your research topic and collected data - Out of the following statistical methodologies, select one that works best for your topic and data.
    - Comparing means or proportions of two groups
    - ANOVA
    - Chi-Squared test
    - Linear regression
    - Multiple regression
  4. Analyze your data and draw a conclusion on the topic - You may want to analyze your data using either excel or SPSS (or using calculator if you want). You will have to show hypotheses, test statistic, and P-value clearly. Based on the test statistic and P-value, make your decision on your research topic. (Again, rejecting or not rejecting the null hypothesis is not the conclusion. Your conclusion should be one answering your research question.)
