Lesson 25 Exercise File 2 A person is interested in how much time fathers of children with a disability

Lesson 25 Exercise File 2

A person is interested in how much time fathers of children with a disability play with their children who are disabled. To address the questions, she found 60 fathers in six categories: a) fathers with a male child with no mental or physical disability, b) fathers with a female child with no physical or mental disability, c) fathers with a male physically disabled child, d) fathers with a female physically disabled child, e) fathers with a male mentally retarded child, and f) fathers with a female mentally retarded child. She asks fathers to record how many minutes per day they spent playing with their child for five days. The SPSS data file contains 60 cases and 3 variables, a factor indicating the disability status of the child, a factor indicating the child’s gender, and a play time score averaged across the five days.

Q5. Conduct a two way ANOVA to evaluate differences among the groups, according to gender and disability status of the child, in the amount of time fathers spent playing with their children.

Q7. Write a Results section reporting the results of the analysis.

Lesson 30 Exercise File 1

Q2. What is the relationship between the number of articles published and the overall quality of the instructor?

Lesson 33, Exercise File 1 (Regression analysis problem)

A researcher is interested in understanding who does well and who does poorly in statistics courses. She collects data from 100 students in her statistics course. Besides their performance, on her exams in the course, she obtains students’ scores on math and English aptitude tests students took in their senior year of high school, and their high school grade point average in math, English, and all other courses.

The variables in the data set are:

mathtest = score on math aptitude test taken in high school

engtest = score on English aptitude test taken in high school

eng_gpa = high school gpa in English courses

math_gpa = High school gpa in math courses

othr_gpa = high school gpa in courses other than English and math

statexam = average percentage correct on exams in a college statistics course

The research questions of interest are a) how well do high school test scores and grade point averages predict test performance in a statistics course and b) is it necessary to have both high school test scores and grade point averages as predictors of exams scores in statistics?

Q2. What is the regression equation for all predictors?

Q4. What is the contribution of high school grade point averages over and above high school test scores? Report the appropriate statistic from the output.
