Final Project "Tune Up"
As a highly esteemed statistical consultant, you have been asked by ASQ to evaluate
what factors result in the success of their Black Belt training courses. Success will be
measured by the average point increase achieved in an assessment exam given to
students before and after the 4 week ASQ course. The maximum score for the assessment exam is 300.
The available data is taken from 100 ASQ Black Belt courses taught in the recent past.
The curriculum is standardized, but instructors have some leeway on the number of texts they require, and what software they will use to teach statistical concepts. Students taking these courses have had at least one statistics class and have experience in the field. Variables included are cost of training materials; average number of statistics courses previously taken by the students; whether Minitab, Excel or some other software package is used; number of students in the class; instructor’s teaching experience in years; the average time students spent studying for the final assessment exam; and the average number of hours spent on homework each week.
Each of you has a different data set, based on a different underlying model. Your task is
to fit a model to your data and write a technical report showing your results. The
technical report should include the following sections. Lengths given are a rough guide.
