The assignment involves the construction of an SPSS data file and the analysis of the data from a school that requires:

  • calculation of descriptive statistics
  • correlation between variables or a set of variables
  • t-test or one-way ANOVA
    • Compare the class means of ACAMOT, LIKSCH, LIKSCI, SELREG, ACHSCI68, and ACHSCI69
    • Hypothesis
      • The classes are streamed, with CLASSID ordered, in the order of their average attitudes and achievements (or the mean values of ACAMOT, LIKSCH, LIKSCI, SELREG, ACHSCI68, and ACHSCI69)
  • Multiple regression analysis
    • Find out and try all possible variables that may influence science achievement in 1969 using SPSS 18 computer programs.

In addition, students are expected to discuss the results obtained from their analyses.
