The data are from January 1995 through June 2007.
- Use the CPI to express the Building Permit series in constant dollars. Comment on any notable shifts caused by the indexing.
- Do a trend and seasonal analysis on the adjusted Permit series. Forecast an additional year of data (through June 2008).
- Do another trend and seasonal analysis on CPI. Forecast it for an additional year.
- "Unadjust" the permit forecasts by multiplying them by the forecasts of the CPI.
- Note that there is a second sheet in the spreadsheet entitled "RecentData". This contains the building permit series for July 2007 through June 2008. Use this data to rate the accuracy of the forecasts you produced in part 4 (see the reference about rating forecast accuracy for some ideas). Make appropriate comments about why your technique forecast well, or why it did not.
