Capstone Project PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Your employer has asked you to compile employee safety statistics

Capstone Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Your employer has asked you to compile employee safety statistics for an OSHA compliance audit. OSHA requires that the report be composed of three sections:

  1. Statement of research questions and hypotheses
    • Define the pertinent variables
  • Variable type
  • Descriptive data for interval variables
  • Labels for nominal variables
  • State the hypotheses
  • Identify the appropriate analysis for each research question and explain why it is the correct analysis.
  1. Report analyses and results
    • Submit an excel file containing all the output from you analyses. Be sure to label the output so that it is clear which data pertains to which research question.
    • Summarize the relevant output for each analysis and whether or not the analysis revealed a significant relationship.
  • ANOVA: present ANOVA table (use table on page 357 as a model)
  • t: present t, critical t, df, p-value
  • Correlation and regression: r, r 2 , line fit plot, ANOVA table for the significance of the regression
  • Chi square: contingency table, critical χ 2 , calculated χ 2
  1. Conclusions, implications and recommendations
    • Based on the results of your analyses, what can you conclude about each of your research questions?
    • What do these conclusions mean to your company and the OSHA investigators?
    • What course(s) of action seem appropriate given the results and implications of your analyses?

ANALYSES:

OSHA requires that you report three specific pieces of information:

  1. Whether or not the company’s safety training program had an impact on job-related injuries
  2. If there is a significant difference in the number of hours worked during the different shifts
  3. If there is a relationship between the number of hours worked and the occurrence of job-related injuries
  4. Please conduct one additional analysis/comparison (using the data provided) that you feel would provide your company with valuable information.

The Excel spreadsheet file contains all the data that were recorded during the compliance investigation. The variables included in the spreadsheet are:

  1. Employee ID number
  2. Gender (1=female, 2=male)
  3. Training program participation (1=yes, 0=no)
  4. Years employed with the company
  5. Shift worked
  6. Injured on the job (1=yes, 0=no)
  7. Mean number of hours worked
  8. Proficiency test score
  9. Mean number of product assembly errors
Price: $18.5
Solution: The downloadable solution consists of 12 pages, 650 words and 1 charts.
Deliverable: Word Document
