Assignment 10
Several years ago, the People and I Survey was administered to a convenient sample of students at a university. This class project is based on the data set ( projectdata.sav ) from that survey. Specifically, several students who were enrolled in a survey design and analysis class positioned themselves at various locations in the university campus and handed out the questionnaire to willing participants. These participants were instructed to complete the questionnaire and returns it in the attached envelops via inter campus mail to the instructor of the course. Once the survey was received, it was coded and entered into a data base for follow-up analysis.
The data set consists of the following variables:
Demographic Variables :
Gender (gender): 1 – Male
2 – Female
Marital Status (marstat) : 1 – Single
2 – Married
School: 1 – Seminary
2 – Other School/Discipline
Student Status (studstat): 1 – Undergraduate
2 – Graduate
Age Actual age (in years) of the respondent
Affective Variables :
Self-righteousness ( selfright ) : A measure of self-righteousness. Possible scores for this variable range from a minimum of 4 to maximum of 20. Higher scores indicate more self-righteousness.
Acceptance of Others (accept) : A measure of how accepting of others one is.
Possible scores range from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 15. Higher scores indicate more acceptance of others.
Life Satisfaction ( lifesatis ) : A measure of how satisfied one is with his/her life.
Possible scores range from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 25. Higher scores reflect more satisfaction with life.
Liking People ( likepeople ): A measure of how he/she likes people. Possible scores range from a minimum of 15 to a maximum of 75. Lower scores reflect more liking of people.
Using SPSS, run a series of analyses and answer the following questions.
