Assignment 12 – Role of Environmental Sustainability in SCM

This assignment is designed to set up the final project. This is a SCM class that is focused on sustainability. You are well aware of the GSCM practices (green purchasing, cooperation with customers…..) and the impact that these practices have on environmental performance and organizational performance. You also remember the six management improvement programs (MO, JIT, TQM, AGILE, GSCMP, and SCMS) that have been developed by manufacturing managers to support the six strategic imperatives (customer focus, efficiency, effectiveness…). We are now concerned with how the management improvement programs fit together and in which order they should be implemented. Since this is a SCM course, I want you to try to link all of the other management improvement programs with supply chain management strategy. We are eventually trying to figure out which improvement programs are antecedents to SCMS and which are consequences. In addition we are trying to figure out which improvement programs are necessary but no longer provide competitive advantage and which improvement programs currently provide competitive advantage. Once you know these things, you can determine the role that environmental sustainability (GSCMP) plays in the Comprehensive Operations/SCM Model.

1. Access the data set and complete the following path model based on your regression results. Be sure to record all of the betas with significance levels and the R ² values in the model.
2. Answer (include the betas and significance levels) the following questions based on the results of the path analysis:
   1. What percentage of the variation in SCMS is explained by the independent variables combined?
   2. Does MO directly impact SCMS?
   3. Does MO indirectly impact SCMS through JIT?
   4. Does JIT directly impact SCMS?

   6. Does TQM directly impact SCMS?
   7. Does TQM indirectly impact SCMS through AGILE?
   8. Does AGILE directly impact SCMS?
   9. Does AGILE indirectly impact SCMS through GSCMP?
   10. Does GSCMP directly impact SCMS?
3. Which of the independent variables directly impact SCMS? Explain why each of these variables likely impacts SCMS.
4. Which of the independent variables do not directly impact SCMS? Explain why each of these variables does not impact SCMS.

This analysis should leave you wondering about the roles of AGILE and GSCMP. You will resolve this conundrum in the final project.
