Assignment - Multiple Linear Regression in \(R\)

Your fifth \(R\) assignment requires you to use \(R\) and R-Studio to conduct multiple linear regression.

Instructions:

This assignment requires that you have \(R\) and \(R\) -Studio downloaded and installed on your computer. This assignment has only a single part, but it requires downloading data first.

Locating Data

The data used for this assignment is included in R. You will be making use of the "USArrests" data.

About these Data

The "USArrests" data include the following variables:

- Murder: Murder arrests (per 100,000 )

- UrbanPop: Percentage of population who lives in an urban area

- Rape: Rape arrests (per 100,000 )

Assignment Instructions:

Once you have downloaded the data into R-Studio, complete the following tasks:

  1. Calculate basic descriptive statistics for each of the variables included in this dataset.
  2. Conduct an analysis of correlations for each of the variables in this dataset. Additional instructions on how to do this were presented in Module $3 .$
  3. Next, conduct 3 separate simple linear regression analyses. Use Assault, UrbanPop, and Rape to predict Murder (in three separate linear models, as described in Module 4).
  4. Then estimate a multiple linear regression model where you use all three variables (Assault, UrbanPop, and Rape) to predict Murder in the same model.

that compares the results across the correlational, bivariate regression, and multiple regression models.
