2. Create two bivariate crosstabs: natural resources expenditures per capita is the dependent variable; sierra club membership rate and percentage of gross state product from utilities and manufacturing industries are the independent variable. Since these are interval level variables, they will have to be recoded as nominal or ordinal level variables for crosstabs. Use the following categories: natural resources expenditures per capita = below $50 per capita, $50 to $100 , and above $100; sierra club membership rate = below .10% of population, .10% to .40%, and above .40%; and, percentage of GSP from utilities and manufacturing industries = below 12% of GSP, 12% to 16%, and above 16%. Be sure to include statistics for substantive relationship and statistical significance. Explain the results.
3. Create two multivariate crosstabs: natural resources expenditures per capita is the dependent variable; sierra club membership rate and percentage of gross state product from utilities and manufacturing industries are the independent variables; Mini-EPA agency is the intervening variable. Use the same categories as before. Be sure to include statistics for substantive relationship and statistical significance. Explain the results.
4. Create a bivariate regression model: natural resources expenditures per capita is the dependent variable; sierra club membership rate is the independent variable. Be sure to include statistics for substantive relationship and statistical significance. Explain the results.
5. Create a multivariate regression model: natural resources expenditures per capita is the dependent variable; sierra club membership rate, percentage of gross state product from utilities and manufacturing industries, and Mini-EPA agency are the independent variables. Be sure to include statistics for substantive relationship and statistical significance. Explain the results.
6. Analyzing the findings from the crosstabs and regression models explain the relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variables. Be sure to consider whether this relationship is consistent across all models, how the inclusion of intervening variables affects the relationship, the theoretical concepts the variables represent, and whether this is a valid theoretical model explaining natural resource program funding
