Analysis of Various Types of Surveys

The purpose of this paper is to analyze different surveys obtained from the literature or from the media in order to analyze its main methodological features and attempt to judge their validity.

Different Types of Surveys for the Analysis

In this paper, three types of surveys will be analyzed from examples obtained from the literature and the media: Entertainment Survey, Political Survey and General Survey.

Methodology

One of the relevant elements of surveys, as a statistical tool, is the ability of extract information from a population in its entirety, from a sample of subjects who are surveyed, assuming that the random sampling requirements are met (so no bias is introduced). But when sampling from a population, there will be always a margin of error. And according to the sampling theory, the margin of error goes down when the sample size increases. Normally, surveys target a margin of error of plus-minus 3 percent points, and it order to achieve, an approximate sample size of 1000 is required (which is the sample size used by Gallup, for example).
