How to Compute the Area and Volume of a Cylinder?

In order to compute the area and volume of a cylinder of radius $$r$$ and height $$h$$ we use the following formulas:

$\text{Area} = 2\pi r h+2\pi r^2$ $\text{Volume} = \pi r^2 h$

Computationally speaking, it quite simple simple to compute the area and the volume of a cylinder, by simply plugging the radius $$r$$ and height $$r$$ in the above formulas. For example, if the radius is $$r = 3$$ and the height is $$h = 2$$ then we compute

$\text{Area} = 2\pi r h+2\pi r^2 = 2\pi \cdot 3 \cdot 2 + 2 \pi \cdot 3^2 = 30 \pi$ $\text{Volume} = \pi r^2 h = \pi \cdot 3^2 \cdot 2 = 18\pi$
