Question: A crossover study was conducted to investigate whether oat bran cereal helps to lower
serum cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic males. Twenty three such individuals
were randomly placed on a diet that included either oat bran or com flakes: after two
weeks, their low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels were recorded. Each man
was then switched to the alternative diet. After a second two-week period, the LDL
cholesterol level of each individual was again recorded. The data from this study is given the following table.

N Mean Std
Com 23 \[{{\bar{X}}_{com}}\] = 4.4 \[{{s}_{com}}\] = 0.624281 spooled = 0.683313
Oat 23 \[{{\bar{X}}_{Oat}}\]= 3.86 \[{{s}_{Oat}}\] = 0.742345
Diff 23 \[{{\bar{X}}_{Diff}}\]= .54 \[{{s}_{diff}}\]= 1.028502
