She randomly assigns 20 participants to one of four conditions: (I) no alcohol, empty stomach; (II) no alcohol, full stomach; (III) alcohol, empty stomach; and (IV) alcohol, full stomach. Participants were asked to learn nonsense syllables, and were then given a recall test. The number correct out of 15 syllables was recorded, with the following results:
