Question: Research in psychology indicates that job satisfaction among workers can vary according to the amount of autonomy they have in decision making for daily activities. More specifically, theory suggests that those with autonomy will have more satisfaction with their jobs than those without autonomy. An experiment was conducted in which 15 employees were allowed to have some flexibility in decision making for 3 months, and a similar group of 15 employees were required to consult a supervisor before any decision was made or implemented. The first group is identified as those with autonomy, the second as those without autonomy. At the end of 3 months, a measure of job satisfaction was administered to both groups and results analyzed to learn if differences in satisfaction resulted. The measure of job satisfaction provides scores that range from a low of 1 to a high of 25. Note that lower scores indicate more job satisfaction and higher scores indicate less job satisfaction. Below are SPSS results for a t-test. Thus the satisfaction scale ranged from 1 = very satisfied to 50 = very dissatisfied. Use these results to answer the following questions. (Note: 0 = without autonomy group; 1 = with autonomy group)

- Was the hypotheses "those with autonomy will have more satisfaction with their jobs than those without autonomy" supported by these data? Explain why or why not.
- Provide written, APA styled results for these data (inferential and interpretational).
- Discuss interpretation of the 95% confidence interval provided above; explain what it represents (i.e., interpretation).
- How would one use 95% confidence interval for hypothesis testing; explain the procedure.
