Question: An operations analyst for Blue Pharmaceuticals, a division of Blue Industries, Inc., is trying to determine the impact of oxygen pressure and type of catalyst on yield for a precursor to a promising anti-hypertensive drug. That data from a series of production runs using different levels of oxygen pressure (≥ 50 pounds per square inch (psi) or < 50 psi), types of catalyst (Nickel, Iridium, or Palladium), and the resulting yield (kg) are provided in Table F1.

  1. Construct a histogram of yield.
  2. Using mathematical symbols, specify the linear model that is most appropriate for testing the impact of oxygen pressure and type of catalyst on precursor yield.
    Ex. Something=b0+b1…
  3. Analyze the data. Specify the analytical technique you used and managerially interpret the results. Include Excel output to support your analysis.
Ex. Regression. Usage was transformed using LN because it was not normally distributed.
  4. Graphically illustrate the relationship between yield and the factor(s) found to affect yield.
