Statistics Paper

- Round all steps of each equation to three decimal places.

- Show all of your work, including formula reductions and affiliated calculations.

This assignment has been developed to synthesize the overall

quantitative concepts and statistical applications available. Leveraging

the framework of quantitative statistics, students will engage in

quantitative hypothesis development and testing as related to social-

scientific research.

The data that will structure this assignment will be hypothetical and

unique for each student. Within the context of this assignment, all

students will develop a brief hypothetical dataset [as outlined below]

related to a quantitative lens of the research topic "Perceptions of the

Islamic religion in post-9/11 Western society."

Here are the steps to be successful in this assignment:

Step #1: You will use the following content-based question/statement from the Research Instrument for this assignment: "I

associate the Middle East and the Islamic religion with terrorism because of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001." The available responses to the question are: Strongly Agree; Agree; Neutral; Disagree; Strongly Disagree.

Step #2: Identify two groups that will provide the quantitative data for the question of interest. You will not engage in data collection, rather you will make up a sample set of data that will serve as a tenable representation of quantitative data that could be portrayed within the framework of this assignment.

Step #3: You will develop a brief quantitative dataset that will provide the structure for your hypothesis testing. This will be in the same format as the dataset illustrated below, however for this assignment, each student will provide 10 data points for Group \(\# 1\) and \(\underline{12}\) data points for Group \(\# 2\); therefore each student will have a total of 22 data points.

Each data point will represent the affiliated [hypothetical] value for the question of interest set forth in Step #1 of this assignment.

Step #4: For each of the two sample groups, calculate the following in reflection of the dataset that you have set forth.

Step #4: For each of the two sample groups, calculate the following in reflection of the dataset that you have set forth.

  1. Mean
  2. Media
  3. Mode
  4. Standard Deviation [Sample]
  5. Range

Step #5: Dependent variable: Change in perceptions of persons within Western society towards Muslims since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001

Step #6: Independent variable: Measuring results from sectors of Western society who have exposure to the Islamic faith and Middle Eastern culture and those who have little or no exposure

Step #7: State your Research Hypothesis \(\left(\mathrm{H}_{1}\right)\).

Step #8: State your Null Hypothesis \(\left(\mathrm{H}_{0}\right)\).

Step #9: In reflection of the dataset that you have developed, engage in quantitative hypothesis testing to illustrate if the Null Hypothesis will be Accepted (i.e., Retained) or Rejected.

Within Step #9, remember to show all of your mathematical work and round all calculations to three decimal places.

Step #10: Write a 150-300 word narrative to discuss your quantitative findings.
