Statistical Analysis

The objective of the analysis is to address the research hypothesis stated below. The software that will be used is SPSS, and for each of the proposed research hypotheses, a two independent samples t-test will be performed.

1. Is there a difference between students in Grade 1 who receive whole-class instruction in Treasures and Grade 1 students who receive small-group instruction in Read Well on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores?
   H ₀ : There is no significant difference between Grade 1 students utilizing the Treasures reading program and Grade 1 students utilizing the Read Well reading program on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores.
   Ha: There is a significant difference between Grade 1 students utilizing the Treasures reading program and Grade 1 students utilizing the Read Well reading program on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores.
2. Is there a difference between male students in Grade 1 who receive whole-class instruction in Treasures and male students in Grade 1 who receive small-group instruction in Read Well on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores?
   H ₀ : There is no significant difference between Grade 1 male students utilizing the Treasures reading program and Grade 1 male students utilizing the Read Well reading program on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores.
   Ha: There is a significant difference between Grade 1 male students utilizing the Treasures reading program and Grade 1 male students utilizing the Read Well reading program on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores.
3. Is there a difference between Grade 1 female students who receive whole-class instruction in Treasures and Grade 1 female students who receive small-group instruction in Read Well on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores?
   H ₀ : There is no significant difference between Grade 1 female students utilizing the Treasures reading program and Grade 1 female students utilizing the Read Well reading program on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores.

4. Is there a difference between Grade 1 European American students who receive whole-class instruction in Treasures and Grade 1 European American students who receive small-group instruction in Read Well on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores?
   H ₀ : There is no significant difference between Grade 1 European American students utilizing the Treasures reading program and Grade 1 European American students utilizing the Read Well reading program on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores.

5. Is there a difference between Grade 1 African American students who receive whole-class instruction in Treasures and Grade 1 African American students who receive small-group instruction in Read Well on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores?

H ₀ : There is no significant difference between Grade 1 African American students utilizing the Treasures reading program and Grade 1 African American students utilizing the Read Well reading program on ORF, as measured by the DIBELS ORF gains scores.
