Module 01 - Session Long Project

The TUI session long project is not a term paper due at the end of the course.  Rather, each submitted SLP assignment acts as a vehicle to give the topics covered by each module a personal, concrete expression.  Each SLP assignment is due at the end of the corresponding module.

Select a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) that you have daily stock market access to.  Immediately start keeping a log of the daily closing price of your selected company's stock, the date of each closing price , and the closing Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) index for each date.  For this first SLP, answer the questions below.

1. What is the name and NYSE symbol of the selected company?
2. What is its primary business?
3. What categories and types of data are you collecting?
4. Where will you find the data needed for this SLP; e.g., internet or Stars and Stripes ?
5. Would a frequency distribution table be appropriate for displaying your data?  Create and submit an illustrative frequency table to show how such a table might look when you have collected enough data.

Write a 2-3 page MS Word paper addressing the issues above, and using the style and format described in your Syllabus by the TUI.  The paper should have a cover sheet and a references page, which do not count in the 2-3 page count.  Submit the paper via CourseNet.
