Module 01 - Session Long Project
The TUI session long project is not a term paper due at the end of the course. Rather, each submitted SLP assignment acts as a vehicle to give the topics covered by each module a personal, concrete expression. Each SLP assignment is due at the end of the corresponding module.
Select a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) that you have daily stock market access to. Immediately start keeping a log of the daily closing price of your selected company's stock, the date of each closing price , and the closing Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) index for each date. For this first SLP, answer the questions below.
- What is the name and NYSE symbol of the selected company?
- What is its primary business?
- What categories and types of data are you collecting?
- Where will you find the data needed for this SLP; e.g., internet or Stars and Stripes ?
- Would a frequency distribution table be appropriate for displaying your data? Create and submit an illustrative frequency table to show how such a table might look when you have collected enough data.
Write a 2-3 page MS Word paper addressing the issues above, and using the style and format described in your Syllabus by the TUI. The paper should have a cover sheet and a references page, which do not count in the 2-3 page count. Submit the paper via CourseNet.
Deliverable: Word Document
