World Values Study

INTRO (2 paragraphs)- give some background about the issues involved that led to your choosing of the data that you did. This can include some references to literature, but don’t overdo it with an extensive literature review (that’s not the point of the project). Ex- is there some problem within the population that was polled? Then, "set up" the report that will follow, by telling what dependent variable you’re exploring, what populations you chose, what other independent variables hypothesizing as relevant, etc. Finally, set up the information that your report will talk about.

METHODS (1 paragraph)- Research general info what you can find out about the World Values Study methods (http://www.worldvaluessurvey.org/). Include a sentence where you broadly outline the data analysis methods you used. Write them as if you were the director of the study, telling in layman’s terms what you did.

RESULTS (try for 3-6 pages). Here’s where you insert graphs, tables, etc. Make sure they convey significant information in ways that are simple , concise , relevant , and nice looking ! Highlight statistically significant relationships if and where they exist. You should also include some discussion of the specific data analysis you did, in terms of teasing apart variables, recodes, significance testing, etc. Don’t write a full page of every step of a recoded variable, just a broad outline so I can follow along and spot check your analysis.

DISCUSSION (1-2 pages). What was relevant about what you found? Can you think of any limitations of the study data? What would a more in-depth, anthropological/ social science follow-up study/ survey involve?

You’ll also need to submit a PowerPoint presentation of the angle or issue you’ve chosen. Aim for around 8-12 slides, as if you were professionally presenting your findings to a corporate boardroom or a foundation conference meeting. Take extra care that they are straightforward and easy to understand. Everyone will present for 7-10 minutes, and take 3-4 minutes of questions/ discussion
