The value of the nthn^{th} term of the arithmetic sequence, ana_n is computed by using the following formula:

an=a1+(n1)da_n = a_1 + (n-1)d

This means that in order to get the next element in the sequence we add dd, to the previous one. So then, the first element is a1a_1, the next one is a1+da_1 + d, the next one is a1+d+da_1 + d + d, which can be rewritten as a1+2da_1 + 2d, etc.
