Be precise. Follow the statements’ instructions. When given a choice in SPSS, use the legacy settings. Always use the system assigned critical value for all statistical tests. Unless otherwise noted, the program default critical value is 0.05 (significance level).
When completing each problem, be sure you provide the following information on the SPSS output printout (Or in a
Word document) for each of the assigned problems:
- Identify the problem.
- Clearly state the null hypothesis & alternative hypothesis - Use the SPSS Output’s "New Text" feature and type in the null & alternative hypotheses before the statistical analysis section.
- After the statistical analysis/problem solution output section, use the "New Text" feature and provide your clear, concise, and complete conclusions regarding the sample(s). The conclusion must discuss the statistical values obtained through the analysis as it relates to the null hypothesis and the population(s).
- Delete all extraneous SPSS code lines & comments from the Output file.
- Use the SPSS "Insert" "New Page Title" feature and include your names and group number on each output view (If you so choose, you can copy the output material into a Word file).
- Print out the results. Submit the hard copy to the department office by the due date and time.
- Save a copy of your SPSS test’s output views. Upload the files in the assignment area (Click on the assignment title).
The Project -
Using the data file identified in each statement, select the appropriate SPSS based statistic test and provide your analysis for the following:
- You are evaluating a new diet for your organization’s clients with a family history of heart disease. To test the effectiveness of this diet, 16 patients are placed on the diet for 6 months. Their weights and triglyceride levels are measured before and after the study. You want to determine if either set of measurements has changed after being on the diet for 6 months. Using the dietstudyf15.sav file, is there a statistically significant difference between the pre- and post-diet weights or triglyceride levels of the 16 patients?
- You want to determine customer satisfaction rates within your organization’s service offices. You conducted surveys of 582 customers at 4 service office locations. From the survey results, you found that the quality of customer service was the most important factor to a customer's overall satisfaction. Given this information, you want to test whether each of the office locations provides a similar and adequate level of customer service. Using the satisff15.sav file, are the levels of service satisfaction constant across office locations?
- You are conducting the annual review of a NGO’s endowment funds. As part of the review, you are evaluating the stock portfolio’s financial performance during the past two years. Based on the stock fund avg % gain in the 2013 and fund avg % gain in the 2014 data variables, was there a statistically difference in the median gain for endowment’s fourteen stocks during 2014 compared to the median for the prior year? ( Funds f15 .sav )
-
Based on a health study completed by a public health advisory committee in 2014, you are interested in determining if health funding is correlated with two variables. Using the
diseasef15.sav
file, can health funding be used to predict either disease rates
or
doctor visits in the communities evaluated by the committee?
Charts and Graphs -
Using SPSS, provide a copy of the output view for the following graphs. Include your names & group number on each chart: - Based on your analysis in problem 4 ( diseasef15.sav ), provide the scatter plot charts of the relationships. Include the line of best fit and r 2 value on the chart(s).
- You have collected data involving 100 females (Cerebrovascular event victims & controls) and their ability to perform daily life activities during the past year. Based on your data file ( CBVE f15 .sav ), complete a cluster bar graph by each of the two groups (cases & controls) which displays each groups ability to clean based on the housekeeping common activities of daily life (Housekeeping ADL) variable. Include a title for the bar graph on the output view.
