Male versus Female Drivers The following data represent the number of licensed drivers in various age groups and the number of accidents within the age group by gender.

  1. On the same graph, draw a scatter plot for both males and females. Be sure to use a different. plotting symbol for each group. Treat number of licensed drivers as explanatory variable.
  2. Based on the scatter diagrams, do you think that insurance companies are justifled in charging different insurance rates for males and females? Why?
  3. Compute the correlation between number of licensed drivers and number of crashes for both males and females.
  4. Find the least-squares regression line for males and females. Draw regression lines on graph.
  5. Interpret the slope of the least-squares regression line for each gender.
  6. Predict number of accidents for males if there were 8700 thousand licensed drivers. Do the same for females.
