Supermodels Case
The present study was conducted to assess the effect of age, years of experience and level of beauty on a supermodel salary. Data from two hundred and thirty one supermodels was collected, and the variables include salary, age, years of experience and beauty level (as measured by an attractiveness percentage).
Overview of Design and Procedures
The salary for each of the two hundred and thirty supermodels was recorded along with their age, years of being a supermodel and their estimated attractiveness percentage. As reported in Table 1, the average daily salary is M = 11.34 ( SD = 16.03). The mean age is M = 18.07 years ( SD = 2.42 years), the mean number of years as a model is M = 4.59 ( SD = 1.58), and the mean attractiveness is M = 77.94% ( SD = 6.77%).
Results
Preliminary Analysis
Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS 16 software package. An exploratory data analysis employing the Shapiro-Wilk's (S-W) test for univariate normality indicated that Salary, Age and Years as a model departed from normality ( p < .05 ) whereas Attractiveness is normally distributed (p > .05).
