Introduction

The objective of this paper is to analyze statistically the experimental design where 80 subjects received some mindfulness training, and another group of 80 subjects within the same establishment didn’t. For this purpose, the 160 records obtained from these 80 individuals for each group will be analyzed. The dataset consists of the following variables

• Age
• Gender (1 = Male, 2 = Female)
• Ethnicity (1 = White, 2 = Black, 3 = Asian, 4 = Other, 5 = British)
• Attentional Control
• Trait anxiety
• Attachment anxiety
• Pre-mindfulness score
• Post-mindfulness score
• Group (1 = Training, 2 = Control)

The objective is determining whether Gender and Group affect significantly the post-mindfulness score. Also, we are interested in assessing whether it would be useful to control for the pre-mindfulness score. For this purpose, an ANCOVA will be performed with the aid of SPSS.

Research Question

The research question that will be proposed only involves some of the variables mentioned above. More specifically, we are interested in the following research question:

Do Gender and Group affect significantly the mean post-mindfulness score after controlling for pre-mindfulness score?
