Part 2
Answer the following questions using the N=20 database you created for questions 1-8 and the N=500 database from Blackboard for questions 9-15. The answers should be written out and submitted as a Word document. After giving your answer to a particular question, include pertinent portions of SPSS output. (The output is not the database itself; rather, it is the analysis printout that appears when you do an analysis on your database). You can do this by cutting and pasting them into the Word document for each question. To do that, simply click on the appropriate portion of your analysis output, press Ctrl and C simultaneously. Then, go to your Word document. Place the cursor where you want to insert the analysis, and press Ctrl and V simultaneously. Please do not submit the SPSS outputs as a separate file.
Questions for
small
sample (N=20
)
- What is the mean age of this sample? Standard deviation?
- What are the two most frequent ways people heard about IHP?
- Are these people highly educated or minimally? Justify your answer with at least two frequency percentages.
- In this sample, how many people and what percent of those who have received inner healing prayer see it as the most beneficial thing they have tried?
- What percentage of the sample has personally received inner healing prayer?
- Do respondents appear open to supervision by a licensed mental health professional well trained in IHP? Justify your answer.
- In this sample, what number & percentage of men attend church 2 or "3 or more" times a week?
-
Who has a higher opinion of IHP for depression, the men in this sample or the women (Note: I’m not asking about statistical significance here, merely by the raw numbers)? Justify your response with appropriate crosstab percentages.
Q uestions for Large Sample on Blackboard (N=500 )
- What is the mean age for this sample? Standard Deviation? [Use age variable toward end of database]
- What percentage of women in this large sample view IHP as more effective with depression? [Use Effdeprs variable and Gender ]
- In the above question, is this larger or smaller than the N=20 sample? If from the same population, which numbers do you trust more and why?
- Who goes to church more often in this sample, licensed mental health professionals or nonprofessionals? [Use mh_prof variable and attchu2] Support your answer.
- Do respondents who are currently using IHP see it as more effective percentage wise with people suffering from eating disorders or with people suffering from personality disorders? Support your answer with percentages. [ Hint: You must do crosstabs to insure your results for each disorder focus on practitioners currently using IHP . Remember to click on the Cells option in the crosstabs and check the appropriate Percentages (column or row) to view the %s of interest ].
- What number of respondents who had personally received inner healing prayer view it as very helpful or the most beneficial thing they’ve tried?
- Are licensed mental health professionals open to receiving supervision from another mental health professional well-trained in inner healing prayer? Support your answer with at least two numbers.
