Statistics Paper

Part 1:

The objective of this paper is to assess whether Josh’s hypothesis is true, in terms of that the plants that were exposed to music will grow at a fast rate than plants without music exposure. In this case, the dependent variable is Height (ratio variable) and the independent variable is Exposure to music (nominal variable).

In order to test the above hypothesis, a two-independent samples t-test will need to be used. Such test (as most parametric tests) requires that the samples come from normally distributed populations. There is no a priori reason to believe that the samples don’t come from normally distributed populations, but that will have to be formally tested.

This study corresponds to an observational study.

Part 2

In this part we analyze the corresponding descriptive statistics.
