Statistics Application

Problem
Using the file therapy.sav, please perform a stepwise multiple regression from the following research question:.
We believe that either the internal external locus of control score or personality test score will affect therapy with this sample.
  1. Explain the steps and the (R squared) involved in this equation.  SIMPLY and briefly. Use the 10 interpretation points as a guide or Mertler and Vanatta text.
  2. Is this equation significant?
  3. What are the final betas of each variable? And what does this mean?
  4. What is the correlation between the internal external and the other IV's.
  5. How are the collinearity diagnostics?      Which ones are fine, which are not?
  6. What do the residual graphs tell us about the equation.
f)      Please send output by e-mail.  Label the file examXX.spo      (XX are your initials).
2. We know that gender affects the improvement in therapy and want to control for that moderator variable by performing a forced enter of this variable into our regression equation first.  We then believe that either the internal external locus of control or personality tests will affect this sample.  Please perform a hierarchical regression analysis using the therapy.sps syntax provided. Just answer the question: are there any differences between the stepwise and the hierarchical analysis. Please be very, very brief.
3.
UNIANOVA
weight WITH age neck
/METHOD = SSTYPE(3)
/INTERCEPT = INCLUDE
/PRINT = ETASQ OPOWER
/CRITERIA = ALPHA(.05)
/DESIGN = age neck .
  1. The above syntax is used with the bears.sav file. The hypothesis is that age and neck width affect the weight of a baby bear. An Analysis of Covariance ANCOVA is performed.
  2. A table called Tests of Between-Subjects Effects is produced below.
  3. Please explain what is the effect size of each of the 2 IVs and the power.
  4. What does this mean? What is the name of the effect size on this table in SPSS?

The hypothesis is that gender and intelligence will affect the verdict outcome. Using the syntax below, perform a logistic regression analysis and explain in detail the odds ratio of the event occurring, the overall significance of the equation, and the individual variable significance. What does this equation mean and how would this affect you if you were a jury consultant? The file to use is jury94.sav
