Research Methods:

Decide on a research question in your field of study that involves at least 2 independent or predictor variables (that means, 2 or more).

Decide on the appropriate statistical analysis to use based on your research question.

Utilize some data that you have already collected, datasets in a textbook (you can change the research scenario), or you may use fictitious data. Again, this dataset should represent variables in your field of study. Also, if the data is fictitious, do your best so that the data mimics reality (i.e., a student with a score of 300 for IQ is not realistic).

Most importantly, the OMNIBUS result must be statistically significant (i.e. the overall F-statistic). Analyze the data using SPSS and then address the following in your paper:

- Research Problem and Question - Describe the research problem. At the end of this description, write your research question. This should be no more than a page.

Method - Re-state your research question, state your independent/predictor variables and/or covariates, and your dependent/criterion variable. Indicate clearly how each will be measured, if appropriate. State which statistical analysis will be used to answer the research question. This should be no more than a page. 25 points

Analysis - Analyze the data. In your paper, report appropriate descriptive statistics, state the assumptions, report inferential statistics (i.e., calculated statistics, df, \(p\) -value for omnibus results), effect size, confidence intervals, statistics for contrasts, etc. Use APA format when reporting your results. Report statistics in an APA table if appropriate. Interpret statistics within the context of your question, make decisions, and make conclusions within the context of your research question. 40 points

Discussion - Discuss what your results mean in everyday terms. Do not include any statistics in this section. This should be no more than a half to \(3 / 4\) s of a page. 10 points

Data Management Plan - include your data management plan as the last page of your paper. 10 points
