A Statistical Analysis of Dairy and Poultry Data in the U.S.

Introduction

The objective of this paper is to analyze the data from Chapter VIII Dairy and Poultry Statistics (2007) from the U.S. Census Bureau. The dataset used consists of data for all fifty states for the following variables:

• Number of Milk Cows (in thousands)
• Milk per milk cow (in pounds)
• Percent of fat produced
• Total milk produced (in million pounds)

For the purpose of the analysis, all fifty cases are valid. In this paper, the descriptive statistics of the variables Number of Milk Cows and Total milk produced will be analyzed, and the possible existence of a linear association between these two variables will assessed. Also, al multiple regression model to predict the variable Total milk produced in terms of the other variables will be constructed.
