SPSS Assessment One - Initial Data Review

At this stage you have completed your initial review of the Employee data file. The purpose of this assessment is to report your findings. Your should summarise five important relationships you have found in the data. Each relationship should include two or more variables.

Your report should take the form of a five point executive summary of your findings on the first page and a five page statistical appendix. Your points should be numbered one to five and should cross-reference the five one page sections of your statistical appendix. Each page of the statistical appendix should include one or more plots/tables depicting your findings.

Marking Scheme

As for all assessments the marking scheme is 40% content, 40% interpretation and 20% presentation. The total marks for this assessment is 125.

The content marks are obtained for five relevant relationships backed up by appropriate statistical displays.

The i nterpretation marks are awarded for the quality of the relationships summarised and the statistical understanding and knowledge displayed. Inappropriate use of statistics and graphs will be penalised. (For example misusing standard deviations or using a bar chart instead of the histogram.) Superfluous information on your plots and graphs will also be penalised.

The presentation marks are awarded for carefully labelled graphs and/or tables with appropriate value and variable labels. The correct cross-referencing and formatting of your report is also essential.
