Results

The quantitative and qualitative results obtained from the interview conducted to the subjects will be presented in this section. The quantitative results, which are essentially demographic results, are obtained with the aid of SPSS, whereas the qualitative results are obtained with the aid of NVIVO.

From the results of the interview it was possible to collect a dataset with demographic variable, pertaining to the subjects who participated in the interviews. The variables that were collected are Age , Gender , Job Type and Race . The variable Age is measured at the ratio level. The variable Gender is measured at the nominal level (1 = Female, 2 = Male). The variable Job Type is measured at the nominal level (1 = Registered Nurse, 2 = Respiratory Therapist). Finally, the variable Race is measured at the nominal level (1 = African American, 2 = Caucasian, 3 = Hispanic).

The main difficulty for the quantitative analysis in order to have meaningful conclusions and generalizability in this case is the use a non-random sampling technique, along with the fact that the sample size is small (with only 18 participants).
