Description

This activity is based on the material you learned in Units 15 and 16 (Correlation and Regression). You will also need to be familiar with the material in labs 16 and 17 and you are expected to use either Excel or Minitab to complete this activity.

The logbook activity must be written up in the form of a brief report, which is no longer than 2 pages, so that it can be printed and given in to your lab tutor.

Tasks

  1. Using either Excel or Minitab produce a scatter plot of Arm Length against Hand Length. Comment on any features of the data apparent in this plot.
  2. Produce a regression line of Arm Length against Hand Length.
  3. Interpret the coefficient of Hand Length in your regression line.
  4. If the product moment correlation coefficient is 0.76, calculate the coefficient of determination and interpret the result.
  5. Briefly state what you would do next in the regression analysis of these variables. You DO NOT NEED to do any more analysis.
