Assignment 3 - Correlation Analysis

In this paper the SPSS dataset grade.sav will be used in order to conduct a correlation analysis. The variables that will be used in the analysis are Gender, GPA, Total and Final.

The grades.sav contains 21 variables with a sample size of N = 105 valid cases. The variables in the data file are demographic in nature and there are also variables that contain information, such as gender, ethnicity and grades.

The four variables considered in the analysis are Gender , which is measured at the nominal level, GPA , which is measured at the interval level, Total , which is measured at the interval level, and Final , measured at the interval level.

For 4 variables there are 6 possible pairs for which correlation can be computed. For Gender and all of the other 3 variables, the point-biserial correlation is used. For any pair involving any of the three interval variables, Pearson’s correlation is used. The sample size of the dataset is N = 105.
