A researcher wishes to evaluate various coping strategies for pain. She obtains 8 student volunteers to come to a lab on two consecutive days for her pain research. On both days, the students plunge their hands into freezing cold water for 90 seconds. They rate how painful the experience is on a scale from 1 (not painful at all) to 50 (excruciatingly painful) at the end of 30 seconds, 60 seconds, and 90 seconds.

| Subject | 30 | 60 | 90 |

Use SPSS to help you answer the following questions. Do not use any tables unless specifically asked to do so (i.e., t* or F*) - report all answers from the SPSS output unless directed otherwise. Report all statistics in APA format (i.e., the calculated statistic (i.e., F), df, and p-value) when appropriate.
- Report the means and standard deviations for the pain level at each time
- Write the null hypothesis in symbols based on the null hypothesis: There are no mean differences among the 3 pain levels.
- What are the assumptions for making inferences back to the population for this design?
- Using the output, is there any evidence to indicate that the assumption of sphericity is violated at .10? Provide statistical evidence in APA format.
- Is there evidence to indicate a statistically significant difference among the different time levels? Make a decision, present statistical evidence in APA format, and make a final conclusion.
- Considering all possible pairwise comparisons, use the results from SPSS and control the FW error rate to .05. Write the null and alternative hypotheses in symbols for each comparison, report the p-value and make a final decision for each comparison.
